Woman Arrested with 52 Cocaine Pellets at Kano Airport by NDLEA
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Bilkisu Mohammed Bello, a 45-year-old woman, at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano. She was arrested while preparing to board a Saudia Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia with 52 cocaine pellets.
In a statement by Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy of the Agency, the arrest occurred on Tuesday. During interrogation, Bello confessed to swallowing pellets of cocaine given to her before her flight. She cooperated with NDLEA officers, leading them to a house in the Farawa area of Kano, where 52 wraps of the illicit substance, totaling 767 grams, were recovered.
In separate anti-drug operations, NDLEA arrested Auwal Bindow with 50,000 capsules of tramadol along Bauchi-Gombe road and Anuoluwapo Blessing Iyanu in Oyo State with 52 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 30kgs.
Additionally, a collaborative operation involving NDLEA operatives, the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Amotekun personnel in James town, Ogun State, resulted in the discovery and destruction of 10.38 tonnes of cannabis sativa covering over 4.152 hectares. During the operation, a truck carrying a 40ft container loaded with logs of wood was intercepted, revealing two bags of cannabis sativa weighing 20kgs, leading to the arrest of six suspects.
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives raided Obi camp in Owan West LGA, removing 30 sacks of skunk weighing 300kgs concealed in charcoal from an old dilapidated mud house. Two cannabis farms measuring 1.179065 hectares at Igbanke forest in Orhiowon local government area were also identified and destroyed, resulting in the arrest of four suspects: Tersoo Zaria, Ifeanyi Osai, Moses David, and Daniel Gabriel.
