Tinubu meets Trump’s African advisor to strengthen US-Nigeria ties

President Bola Tinubu met with Mr. Massad Boulos, the Senior Advisor for Africa in the administration of US President Donald J. Trump.

in Paris, France, to explore strengthening strategic partnership between Nigeria and the United States.

Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, made the announcement on Sunday.

According to the announcement, last Thursday's high-level meeting centred on establishing a strong economic and security cooperation based on mutual respect, shared prosperity, and regional stability.

Mr. Boulos expressed President Trump's "strong interest in deepening direct engagement with Nigeria," identifying the country as a pillar of America's connection with Africa.

He claimed that the Trump administration intends to work closely with President Tinubu "to boost American investment in Nigeria and Africa, support energy and infrastructure development, and align trade and job creation efforts."

The group also reviewed practical methods to help sustain peace and stability across Africa, with a particular emphasis on the ongoing situation in eastern DRC and security challenges in the Sahel.

Mr. Boulos praised Nigeria's "regional and continental leadership," and backed President Tinubu's diplomatic efforts to restore stability in Africa's war zones.

In response, President Tinubu emphasised Nigeria's commitment to engage in fruitful collaborations with the United States, emphasising common values and outcomes that strengthen Africa's position in global affairs.

"Our commitment is to build alliances based on transparency, opportunity, and mutual respect with a clear focus on results that strengthen Africa's place in the global economy" , the head of state stated.
