Lawan condoles with Kalu over wife’s death
The death of Ifeoma, the first wife of Senate Chief Whip Senator Orji Kalu, has shocked Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
Lawan went on to express his sadness over the death of the Senate Chief Whip's wife.
Kalu announced the death of his first wife in a statement on Monday.
"With a heavy heart and pain, we announce the passing on to eternal glory of Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu, aged 61 years," Kalu said in a statement he personally signed.
"She was a woman of virtue who dedicated her life to God and humanity."
"A memorial service in her honor is planned in the United States of America," Kalu added. Please keep her and her loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time. May her gentle soul find eternal peace. Amen.”
In a statement, Lawan described the Senator's death as "untimely and tragic," and he prayed to Almighty God to comfort him and his entire family.
"I express my condolences to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on the tragic and untimely death of his wife," Lawan said. The death of a beloved wife is traumatic and terrifying, but we must accept the Almighty's will.
"We also find solace in the fact that Mrs Kalu lived a virtuous life dedicated to the service of family, community, and God."
"I express my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Abia State, and I pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss," Lawan said.
Kalu is currently studying at the Harvard Business School in the United States.
