A man fatally shot his elder brother and committed gruesome acts of dismemberment.
The police in Cross River State have apprehended a man who allegedly
used a gun to shoot and kill his elder brother. In a horrifying act, the
suspect also proceeded to sever his brother's head and private parts.
A man named Ekapong, residing in Epiebi ward, Ekori, Yakkur
Local Government Area of the state, was arrested over the weekend. The incident
occurred when Ekapong allegedly shot and killed his elder brother, Ofrekpe,
during a dispute over palm fruits on the family farm.
According to Alice, the daughter of the deceased, Ekapong
encountered their father gathering palm fruits from the family palm trees, and
in a shocking turn of events, he fatally shot him.
According to Alice, the dispute between her father and uncle
revolved around the harvesting of palm fruits from their late father's
plantation.
She explained that her uncle had been warning her father to
refrain from approaching the palm trees, threatening to take action against
him.
However, her father didn't take the warnings seriously, as
he believed the palm trees belonged to the entire family.
According to her, a hunter nearby heard a gunshot and
mistakenly believed that one of his colleagues had successfully hunted an
animal.
Curious, he hurried over to join in the presumed catch, only
to discover a gruesome scene that alarmed him.
The hunter found Alice's uncle, drenched in blood, with a
bag lying next to him. In a state of excitement, the hunter opened the bag,
only to be confronted with a human head and private parts.
Disturbed by the shocking discovery, he cried out for help,
attracting the attention of people working in nearby farms and bushes. They
swiftly gathered at the scene and managed to apprehend the man responsible.
The spokesperson for the Cross River Police Command, Irene
Ugbo, confirmed that the suspect is now in police custody, and investigations
are currently underway.
