However, it also acknowledged that while AI presents numerous opportunities, its governance also presents intricate socio-technical challenges.

The statement highlighted, "With the deployment of algorithms in critical sectors such as healthcare, finance, and security, there is a growing apprehension regarding matters of ethics, bias, transparency, job displacement, and privacy. Both policymakers and researchers concur that adopting a human-centered methodology is imperative to guarantee that AI systems maintain fairness and responsibility for everyone, spanning gender, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversities."

Additionally, the ministry disclosed that the formulation of a national AI Strategy has become a crucial endeavor for the country. This strategy aims to responsibly guide the AI revolution, aligning it with national objectives related to employment generation, societal integration, and sustainable progress.

It further conveyed, "Through collaborative leadership, Nigeria endeavors to spearhead ethical and inclusive AI innovation that enhances well-being and broadens prospects for every citizen."

The ministry articulated its intention to build upon the groundwork laid by the National Information Technology Development Agency. This involves the development of a comprehensive national AI strategy. Moreover, the ministry has expanded its cooperative approach by engaging and enlisting eminent AI researchers of Nigerian origin worldwide.
