W’Cup Qualifiers: South Africa hosts Super Eagles September 9
South Africa's national team, Bafana Bafana, is set to welcome Nigeria, a three-time African champion, for a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on September 9, 2025.A statement released on Sunday by Ademola Olajire, the Head of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation, confirmed that the eagerly awaited match will kick off at 4 p.m. GMT (which translates to 5 p.m. in Nigeria and 6 p.m. in South Africa).
Previously known as Vodacom Park and later Free State Stadium, the Toyota Stadium, located in South Africa’s judicial capital, opened its doors in 1995 and can accommodate 46,000 spectators.
This potentially high-stakes Matchday 8 clash is likely to have significant consequences for which team secures the sole spot from Africa’s qualifying Group C for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
This match will take place just three days after the Super Eagles play against Rwanda’s Amavubi on September 6.
