Iwobi assures that the Super Eagles will exert maximum effort against Lesotho

Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed his desire to participate in the World Cup again and pledged that the Super Eagles will give their utmost against Lesotho on Thursday.

Iwobi expressed his desire during a conversation with Super Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji after Tuesday's training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state. When asked about the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification series starting on Thursday, Raji inquired if Iwobi was prepared for another World Cup, considering his participation in the 2018 tournament in Russia.

"I would love to be part of the World Cup again, not just me but the whole team. I can assure you that we will give our all," Iwobi stated. "We are committed to providing an opportunity to bring joy and a sense of pride to the nation as we represent them at the World Cup, hopefully once again."

Regarding Tuesday's training session, Iwobi mentioned that it wasn't overly intense. He stated, "We are gearing up for the game against Lesotho, and every player is already in camp, so we need thorough preparation. We had a session on Tuesday, another one on Wednesday, and we will carefully analyze the Lesotho team. Hopefully, we'll achieve the result needed for qualification."

Addressing the challenging international window with two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe within 72 hours, Iwobi emphasized the advantage of Nigeria having many players. He noted, "We have quality throughout the team, and every player will be crucial. It's a squad mentality, not just an individual effort."
