Ogun State Police verify the abduction of a 70-year-old man
On Tuesday in Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu confirmed the abduction of a 70-year-old man on December 31. The victim, Adeife Ifelaja, serves as an Elder at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ijebu Igbo.
Ifelaja was kidnapped while en route to his church’s Cross-over service on New Year's Eve.
The Commissioner of Police assured that the command's operatives were diligently working to ensure the safe reunion of the elderly man with his family.
“I can confirm that this individual was indeed kidnapped on the eve of the new year, but as of now, we have not been able to secure his rescue,” he stated.
“We have been in contact with his family members, who have been receiving calls from the kidnappers. The Police are actively engaged in efforts to secure the man's release. We are diligently pursuing the case.
"Despite attempts by the kidnappers to mislead us regarding their whereabouts, we are persistently tracking them, and we anticipate achieving success very soon,” he stated.
