Mbah approves N1.9bn for teachers’ leave allowance arrears

On Monday, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State approved the disbursement of N1,912,187,753.82 to cover the long-standing leave allowances owing to public primary school teachers.

According to a statement from the governor's media office, the payment is for four years and fulfills his vow to prioritise teacher welfare and productivity.

According to the statement, the move was also intended to assist the state's 260 smart green school strategy, which aims to provide high-quality education.

According to our correspondent, this move follows the governor's earlier ratification of the N30,000 minimum salary for primary school teachers and local government personnel, displaying his commitment to improving the well-being of the state's educators.
