Derin Phillips, a contestant for the chairperson of the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area, has committed to foster educational and technological innovation as part of the council's broader development strategy.Phillips, who is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, revealed a detailed strategy to rebuild trust in the council's leadership and address long-standing issues.
He complimented people' resolve to see positive change and pledged to create the LCDA around a five-pillar framework.
In a statement released on Tuesday, he restated his determination to make Ikoyi-Obalende the pride of Lagos.
According to a Tuesday statement, the five-point agenda, known as FAITH, specifies critical focus areas such as financing and innovation, access to social welfare, innovation in education and technology, transparency in government, and health and the environment.
According to Phillips, when the plan is implemented, everyone in the LCDA will benefit from excellent governance and democratic dividends.
"I'm doing this because this is my home; I was born and raised here. Our LCDA deserves the greatest candidates to lead the council to new heights. And I believe I am the best suited and able to serve our people by running for this position," he stated.
On the education and technology pillar, Phillips emphasized the importance of forward-thinking solutions.
"I feel we should be doing things now in accordance with global norms, thus we will focus on artificial intelligence. I feel there is a rising potential that we must capitalize on as Africans, Nigerians, and Lagosians."
"When I am elected, everyone on the council will have complete access to me. My phone number will be displayed publicly. I'm doing this because I recognize the value of communication, and communication allows security and other issues to be handled before they escalate," he continued.
