FG boosts power supply with new plants at six universities
The Federal Government, through the Rural Electrification Agency, has installed power plants at six federal universities to help ensure reliable power supply in critical sectors.This upgrade will benefit the University of Abuja, the University of Maiduguri, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike, Federal University Gashua in Yobe, the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, and the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.
This is according to a recent briefing by the agency's Managing Director, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr Wale Edun.
The discussion, as described in the Ministry of Finance statement, centred on the revolutionary impact that REA's programs have on communities across the nation.
During the briefing, Abba Abubakar Aliyu provided a comprehensive overview of the REA's successful projects, demonstrating how electrification is transforming Nigeria's rural and underserved areas.
According to the Ministry's Director of Information and Public Relations, Muhammad Manga, Aliyu's presentation included images of power plants that had been built at several major institutions.
