Banker reported missing in Ogun located in Niger

A Microfinance bank staff member, Mr. Olumide Openaike, who had been missing since January 17th, was located in Mokwa, Niger State. The wife, Temitope, who also works at a microfinance bank in Onikolobo, Abeokuta, shared the news on Thursday. She expressed relief, stating that her husband had called her from Mokwa on Tuesday afternoon. According to her, he acquired a phone from a resident in Mokwa after his abductors took his original phone. Following their conversation, they advised him to report the incident to the local police station, where a police officer confirmed his presence in Mokwa.

Arrangements were made to provide transportation funds, and he arrived in Ibadan on Wednesday, where he spent the night. His family members are currently in Ibadan, and he is expected to return to Abeokuta today.

Earlier on Sunday, Temitope informed our correspondent that her husband, who left for work on Wednesday, January 17, had not returned home.

The disappearance of the banker and father of one, reported to be a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Strong Tower Zonal Headquarters, Ogun Province 28, was widely shared through a viral WhatsApp message.

A portion of the WhatsApp message states, "I want to inform you all that Mr. Openaike Francis Olumide has been missing since yesterday, Wednesday (17/1/2024), in the morning on his way to work. That was the last time we heard from him until now. No one has seen or heard anything about him, which is unprecedented. The RCCG Ogun 28 brethren and his family are deeply shocked and confused by his disappearance."

Earlier in the week, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
