Call for NNPP to Apologize to Founder Aniebonam Following Expulsion

The National Peace Committee, represented by Chairman Azubike Anazor, has advised the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) National Working Committee (NWC) to revoke the expulsion order issued to the party's founder, Boniface Aniebonam.

During a press briefing in Lagos on Sunday, Anazor urged the NWC to extend a formal apology to Aniebonam for his expulsion from the party. Anazor emphasized that Aniebonam, as the party's founder and the chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT), deserves continuous respect.

The committee found that Aniebonam's purported expulsion was perceived by his supporters as an unjustified action. Anazor argued that expelling Aniebonam violated the NNPP Constitution, which grants him "life membership" in the party's BoT.

Anazor further recommended that the NNPP acting National Chairman, Abba Ali, facilitate an urgent meeting between Aniebonam and the party's 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. Subsequent meetings between the two should occur without third-party interference, fostering confidence and reinstating constitutional order and democratic principles within the party.

Additionally, Anazor urged the NWC and the National Executive Committee (NEC) to refrain from initiating any amendments or recommending changes to the party's constitution. This comes in the context of the Rabiu Kwankwaso-led faction expelling Aniebonam, the National Publicity Secretary Agbo Major, and others for alleged anti-party activities.
