Atiku Speaks Out on Supreme Court Ruling

Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has broken his silence regarding the Supreme Court's ruling. It is worth recalling that the Supreme Court declared President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2023 presidential election. The apex court upheld the earlier decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) that affirmed Tinubu as the winner. Naija News has learned that the Supreme Court dismissed the petition filed by Atiku and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi. Addressing the Supreme Court's outcome on Monday, Atiku expressed his concern, stating that the results of the election petition reveal that "all is not well." At a World Press Conference, Atiku highlighted the gravity of the situation in Nigeria, emphasizing that it extends beyond a presidential election. He presented evidence indicating that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had violated electoral laws and procedures in declaring Tinubu as the president. Atiku noted, "The Supreme Court outcome, even though final, indicates that all is not well." Additionally, he pointed out retired Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad's recent remarks, which allude to challenges within the judiciary. Atiku stressed that for democracy to flourish, it is essential that both INEC and the judiciary avoid entanglement in controversy.
