Turkish woman suffers hearing loss after Samsung earbuds explodes

A Samsung Galaxy Buds FE user in Ankara has reported a terrifying incident in which his girlfriend was in a life-threatening situation after the earbuds allegedly exploded inside her ear, causing permanent hearing loss.

In a post on the Turkish Samsung forum, the man described his experience, which drew the attention of several media outlets. He explained that he had purchased the new Galaxy Buds FE to go with his Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone. At the time of the incident, the earbuds were only 36% charged and had not been used much.

According to the user, he let his girlfriend use the earbuds, but they unexpectedly exploded while in her ear, resulting in serious health consequences. He posted images of the damaged earbud on the forum to illustrate the incident.

After contacting Samsung, he brought the exploded device to a service centre in Cemalpasa, Adana. He stated that the staff were initially shocked and apologised, but the situation changed when they reported that the earbuds had simply "deformed" rather than exploded. They offered to replace the earbuds as a kind gesture.

In his post, the user quoted Samsung saying, "Take it or leave it." If you want, you can pursue your legal rights." He expressed frustration with the lack of accountability, stating that he had been dealing with the problem for months. He has the invoice, documentation of the explosion, before-and-after photos, and a medical report confirming hearing loss caused by the incident.

This isn't the first time Samsung has faced criticism for safety concerns; the company previously dealt with serious issues with exploding batteries in the Galaxy Note 7, which led to its discontinuation in 2016.
