Mmesoma confesses to the Anambra investigation team that she manipulated her 2023 UTME score

The panel appointed by the Anambra State Government to investigate the authenticity of Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result was taken aback when she openly confessed that she had fabricated the result entirely on her own, without the involvement or support of anyone else.

Mmesoma's disclosure was reportedly made in the presence of her principal and the Anambra State Education Secretary.

Consequently, the panel compiled its findings and submitted the report to the state government, which implicated the 19-year-old student.

Fabian Benjamin, the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), announced the report to journalists on Saturday, stating that Mmesoma had also acknowledged the accuracy of the JAMB officials' account of the events.

"Furthermore," Benjamin added, "she confessed to independently falsifying her result using her personal Airtel phone number. Subsequently, she proceeded to a cybercafé (Prisca Global Computers, Uruagu, Nnewi), where she printed the manipulated results."

The panel's report highlighted that Mmesoma did not provide any justification for her actions.

According to him, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma openly confessed in front of her principal and the Education Secretary that the account provided by the JAMB officials accurately depicted the events. She further acknowledged that she independently manipulated the result, without any external assistance, using her personal Airtel phone number.

She stated that she went to Prisca Global Computers, located in Uruagu, Nnewi, to print the manipulated results. Despite the committee's efforts to uncover the motive behind her actions, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma remained silent and offered no explanation.

During their testimonies, both the Principal of Anglican Girls' Secondary School in Uruagu, Nnewi, and the Education Secretary of the Diocese of Nnewi (Anglican Communion) expressed their deep astonishment at the unfolding events.

In their presence, Mmesoma openly admitted to manipulating her UTME results, deceiving not only the school but also her immediate family and the state government.

It is worth noting that JAMB had previously accused Mmesoma of manually inflating her UTME score, raising it from 249 to 362.

Following her purported achievement as the top scorer in the 2023 UTME, Mmesoma garnered attention and even secured a N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors.

Despite the revocation of her initial result and the subsequent three-year ban imposed on her for engaging in fraudulent behavior, Mmesoma adamantly maintained that her result was not forged. She emphasized that she obtained her result by printing it directly from the JAMB portal.
