Furious crowd takes the lives of two police officers in Edo

In Edo State, Inspector Abubakar Fakku and Sergeant Elisha John, two police officers, were reportedly lynched for their alleged involvement in the death of a commercial motorcycle rider.

The incident occurred in Ikpeshi, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state. The police operatives were escorting former Edo State House of Assembly member, Emmanuel Agbaje when a vehicle in their convoy struck and killed an unidentified motorcycle rider.

Following the incident, the operatives were taken to the Edo State Security Volunteer Network. However, angry youths reportedly invaded the facility, resulting in the lynching of the two officers.

They reportedly assaulted the vigilante facility, causing damage to the furniture and issuing threats against vigilante members attempting to rescue the police officers.

Despite the challenges, members of the vigilante group successfully saved two other police operatives. The rescued officers are currently undergoing treatment at Ifejola Hospital Igarra, and several rifles belonging to the police operatives were also recovered.
