Eko DisCo warns customers against meter installation scams

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company has issued a firm warning to its customers, advising them not to pay individuals or groups to install electricity meters.

The company stressed that all payments should be made directly through its official channels.

This alert follows Mufutau Olohunkemi Bello's arrest and arraignment for allegedly defrauding a customer in the Ojo Business District of N760,375 by posing as a prepaid meter seller. Bello is charged with impersonation, obtaining money under false pretenses, and theft.

Babatunde Lasaki, Eko DisCo's General Manager of Corporate Communications, condemned the fraudulent activities and advised customers to exercise caution when approached by individuals offering meter sales. He emphasized the importance of using official channels for transactions, such as bill payments.
