Delta Police Apprehend Suspected Serial Murderer and Cultist

Authorities from the Delta State Police Command have apprehended an alleged serial murderer and cultist in Oghara, within the Ethiope West Local Government Area.

Mr. Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, verified this information in an official statement. He mentioned that alongside the arrest, a GLK Benz SUV, two English pump action guns, and 20 live cartridges were also seized.

The provided statement explained: "Following the reported homicide of Destiny Idi, a 27-year-old male from Ovade Community situated on Ovie Road in Ogharafe on August 5, 2023, allegedly committed by certain suspected cultists, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, instructed CSP Olasunkanmi Musiliu, the newly deployed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Oghara, to uncover the circumstances behind the young man's demise and apprehend those responsible.

Guided by this directive, the DPO, accompanied by the Division's surveillance Anti-crime patrol team, undertook a discreet investigation. They tracked down the ringleader of the incident. At approximately 13:35 hours on the same day, acting upon an account provided by an eyewitness to the victim's murder, the team conducted an operation at a hotel in Oghara (the name of which is withheld). Subsequently, they arrested a 39-year-old individual named Charles Debi-Abate. He is a member of the Aro Bagger confraternity and hails from Oghara, though currently residing in Mosagar. His apprehension was based on his alleged involvement in the murder."

"Initial inquiries have revealed that the mentioned individual in question was a member of the gang responsible for the killing of Onyekachi Chibuzor, also known as 'ODOGWU,' a 42-year-old male, on July 28, 2023. Additionally, the suspect has been linked to multiple cult-related assaults on perceived adversaries within Oghara.

"Although the apprehended suspects denied involvement in the murder of Solomon Idi, they identified two individuals, Onyeka and Paul (last names undisclosed), as the culprits behind the said murder.

"On August 9, 2023, around 11:30 AM, the suspect led the law enforcement team to the premises where Onyeka and Paul were presumed to be. Unfortunately, the team found the premises unoccupied.

"After conducting an exhaustive search of the location, the authorities recovered two English pump action guns, twenty live cartridges, and a GLK Benz SUV with license plate RBC-995-DG.

"The suspects along with the confiscated items are presently under custody, while an active pursuit is underway to track down the fugitive suspects."
