Chowdeck surpasses N30bn in deliveries for 2024 – CEO
Chowdeck, Nigeria's rapidly growing food delivery platform, has announced that it will exceed N30 billion in total deliveries in 2024.This milestone demonstrates the platform's rapid growth and increasing influence in Nigeria's food service industry.
In a statement posted to his X account, CEO and co-founder Femi Aluko highlighted the company's significant growth, revealing that Chowdeck now has over one million registered users, further disrupting the Nigerian food service market.
"Last week, we reached one million registered users on Chowdeck." In the same week, we achieved N30 billion in deliveries for 2024 alone," he tweeted.
Aluko also mentioned the company's rapid growth, which has increased from 319 users in its first month to over one million as Chowdeck approaches its third anniversary.
He attributed the company's success to the dedicated efforts of its employees, partners, and customers.
Chowdeck raised $2.5 million in seed funding earlier this year to help with operations and expansion.
The funding round, which was previously announced in April, attracted notable investors including Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, FounderX Ventures, and Hoaq Fund.
It also included participation from key figures in the global tech and delivery ecosystem, such as Simon Borrero and Juan Pablo Ortega, co-founders of Rappi, Latin America's largest delivery platform, and Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi, co-founders of Paystack.
Since its launch in October 2021, following the COVID-19 lockdown in Lagos, Chowdeck has quickly established itself as a major player in Nigeria's food delivery industry.
The platform now serves eight major cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, and Port Harcourt, and has a fleet of more than 3,000 riders.
According to the company, Chowdeck's riders earn salaries comparable to those of senior civil servants in Nigeria, highlighting the platform's role in job creation.
