Afenifere Urges FG to Meet December Deadline for Refinery Repairs

Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, has urged the Federal Government to ensure the timely commencement of refinery operations in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, meeting the December deadline set by President Bola Tinubu. The call was made during a meeting at the Akure residence of Afenifere's leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, where various resolutions were reached. In a statement by Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere also emphasized the need for swift government and security agency actions to address the prevailing insecurity affecting the socio-economic well-being of the population. The organization highlighted the importance of strengthening the currency, boosting productivity, and reducing item costs. Additionally, Afenifere called for accelerated actions in the power sector, recognizing its crucial role in the economic and social lives of the people. The meeting included representatives from different state chapters of Afenifere, along with a coordinator representing the organization in the United States of America and Canada.
