Access Bank denies allegation of missing funds
Access Bank Limited has refuted charges of losing funds and unethical behavior, claiming they are false.Access Bank issued a statement acknowledging a viral video on social media alleging missing funds and unethical behavior. The bank refuted the charges, stating that it prioritizes the security and safety of its customers' assets.
The statement states in part, "Our attention has been attracted to a video on social media in which claims of missing funds and unethical activity have been made against Access Bank PLC.
"First and foremost, we want to emphasize that the safety and security of our customers' funds are top considerations that we take very seriously. Second, Access Bank plc does not engage in or condone unethical activity.
"In the instant case, the allegations of missing funds in the Bank are most untrue and baseless."
The bank reaffirmed that there is no N500 million missing from customer accounts, as previously reported.
It went on to say that the matter had been probed by both the bank and outside stakeholders, who all came to the same conclusion.
"No N500 million or other funds or amounts are missing from the relevant customer's or any other customer's account with us.
"Access Bank PLC acts with the greatest ethical standards, protecting our clients' interests while adhering to privacy regulations.
"As a result, while we have and will continue to engage with our consumers, we must urge the public not to depend on or believe sensational and unconfirmed statements that are intended to titillate and mislead them.
"We remain committed to serving our customers," the statement said.
