Most of Nigeria's hit songs aren't really good music says singer Ric Hassani
Singer Ric Hassani recently voiced his thoughts on the Afrobeats genre, expressing concern about its current state.
He observed that the quality of Afrobeats music has significantly declined in recent years, indicating that while past hits were high-quality music, many of today's popular songs are "not very good music."
Ric Hassani recently appeared on the Channels TV program, Rubbin' Minds, where he discussed his perspective on the state of Afrobeats with host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
He stated, "Afrobeats is Nigerian music. Our artists are among the top 10 globally, but I feel like the quality of music is starting to decline because more people want to join the industry. As a result, the quality has dropped."
Hassani further explained, "In the past, hit songs were seriously crafted music, but now it seems like almost anyone can break into the industry. Most of the hit songs in Nigeria today are not very good music. It wasn't like this back in the day. I think because we've been at the top for so long, people are just releasing whatever they want and backing it with heavy promotion."
