Victor Osimhen Affirms Contentment at Napoli
Despite uncertainties about his future, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has affirmed his contentment with Napoli, his Italian Serie A club.
In the previous season, Osimhen's outstanding performance, securing 26 goals, contributed to Napoli winning the Serie A title after 33 years. This achievement attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Chelsea. Napoli's president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, demanded over £100 million for the Nigerian international, leading interested clubs to explore other options.
Remaining with Napoli for the 2023–2024 season, Osimhen has netted six goals and provided one assist in ten games. However, challenges persist in reaching a contract renewal agreement as the 24-year-old approaches the final two years of his Napoli contract.
In addition to contract uncertainties, Osimhen became the subject of two peculiar Napoli TikTok videos perceived as mocking. Following the incident, the club privately apologized to Osimhen to avoid potential legal action from the player's agent.
Napoli's president hinted at a potential sale in 2024 if Osimhen declined a new deal, sparking interest from Chelsea and Liverpool. Despite these uncertainties, Osimhen expressed his happiness at Napoli during a recent Twitch interview with Mario Balotelli and Emiliano Viviano. He emphasized the difficulty of playing in Serie A, citing tactical and physical challenges in one of the most demanding leagues.
