Tinubu welcomes the Super Eagles at Aso Villa

President Bola Tinubu is presently hosting the Super Eagles, Nigeria's national football team, at the State House Council Chambers.

This meeting on Tuesday follows closely within 48 hours after their unsuccessful attempt to secure the top spot at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations against the host country, Côte d’Ivoire.

All team members and officials are present at the gathering.

Nigeria faced defeat against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON finals played last Sunday.

In a statement released after the match, Tinubu praised the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their "hard work, diligence, and sacrifice to reach this stage in the tournament." He acknowledged the challenges they consistently overcame, highlighting their steadily improving performance as they progressed to the finals.

The President encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic, emphasizing that "we achieved a significant victory in the hearts of Africa and the world through our determination, resilience, and grit on the field of play."

"Let this recent event not demoralize us but unite us to work even harder. We are a great nation, united under the green-white-green banner, characterized by resilience, joy, hope, duty, and unwavering love."

To the valued Nigerian youths showcasing their talents in local communities, etching lines in the sand as they engage in football within their modest playing areas, you have the potential to be our heroes in the future. Don't waver in your pursuit. My administration is committed to turning dreams into reality," expressed Tinubu.
