Super Eagles suffer a 2-0 defeat against Guinea in a pre-AFCON friendly match

Nigeria's Super Eagles faced a 2-0 defeat against Guinea's Syli National in a friendly match held at the Bani Yas Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Despite starting the game without star striker Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, the Jose Peseiro-led side fell behind as early as the 14th minute.

Simon Moses had an opportunity to equalize for the Super Eagles through a penalty in the 20th minute, but the Guinea goalkeeper thwarted the attempt.

In the 64th minute, the Guinean team extended their lead, securing a second goal.

Manager Peseiro implemented several changes to the lineup, with Calvin Bassey substituting Kenneth Omeruo, Alex Iwobi coming in for Raphael Onyedika, and Frank Onyeka replacing Chidozie Awaziem.

Further alterations were made in the 83rd minute, with captain Ahmed Musa stepping in for Samuel Chukwueze, Joe Aribo taking the place of Alhassan Yusuf, and Ademola Lookman entering for Moses Simon.

Despite the changes, Guinea maintained their lead, securing a confidence-boosting victory in their final preparatory match for AFCON.

The Super Eagles are set to fly to Lagos on Tuesday as they gear up for the AFCON in Cote D'Ivoire.
