Napoli expresses regret over Osimhen's injury-enforced absence, calling it a significant setback
Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has labeled Victor Osimhen's recent injury as a "significant setback" for the team. Osimhen suffered a thigh injury while on international duty and is projected to be out of action for several weeks.
The 24-year-old is anticipated to be absent for upcoming Serie A matches against Hellas Verona and AC Milan, along with the UEFA Champions League encounter against AC Milan.
In Osimhen's absence, Garcia emphasized the club's need to devise a solution, recognizing the significant loss of the Nigerian international. He stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, "We require all our players to be in good shape and ready to play, and Osimhen's absence is a substantial setback for the team. He plays a crucial role, and we must address his absence."
During Napoli's successful Scudetto campaign last season, the Nigerian international made a pivotal contribution, notching 26 goals in 32 league matches for the Partenopei.
Up to this point in the current season, Osimhen has tallied six goals in 10 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
In Osimhen's absence, Garcia will place his trust in Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone to contribute goals for the team.
