Moffi expresses dissatisfaction with the hot weather in Côte d’Ivoire during AFCON 2023

In anticipation of the AFCON 2023 Group A match against hosts Côte d’Ivoire scheduled for Thursday, Nigerian Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has characterized the weather in the country as notably hot.

Moffi received a last-minute call-up to the Super Eagles squad due to an injury to Victor Boniface. The OGC Nice player joined the camp on Monday, missing the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea played the day before.

Speaking in preparation for Thursday’s fixture against Côte d’Ivoire, Moffi commended the city where the Eagles are based but expressed concerns about the prevailing hot weather.

“The city has been pleasant, but the weather is quite hot, especially coming from Europe where it's winter and transitioning to Abidjan,” he remarked.

Nevertheless, he affirmed that he and his teammates are prepared for the challenge.

“But we are ready for this; it's part of football. We grew up in Nigeria where it’s hot as well, so we have no complaints.”

A victory for Côte d’Ivoire against the Eagles will secure their qualification into the round of 16.

The Ivorians initiated their campaign with a 2-0 triumph against Guinea-Bissau.
