Lagos LG chairmanship candidate preaches unity after primary

The chairmanship contender for the All Progressives Congress in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area of Mushin Local Government, Seyi Jakande, has characterized the complaints from the ruling party in the state regarding the recent primary election as internal issues that will be resolved.

During the launch of his campaign in Lagos, Jakande noted that while his candidacy process was smooth and devoid of conflict, issues in other areas where resistance was observed will be addressed swiftly.

He, therefore, called for harmony following the completion of the primary elections as well as in anticipation of the upcoming local government election in the state.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the local government election for July 12.

Comparing politics to a soccer match, Jakande emphasized that established rules and strategies are essential for anyone aiming to succeed in the competition.

He stated, “No one enters a contest intending to lose, but regardless of how many candidates express interest, we can have only one nominee.

“Based on the results of the primaries, there may be some resistance from certain groups, but that is merely an internal matter that we will always resolve.

“For me, the nomination process was seamless and other candidates have offered their cooperation; some have even sent me gifts.”

Jakande, who previously served as the vice chairman of the LCDA, based his campaign promises on the sectors of health care, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.

“Every component of the HEWA agenda is critical for enhancing the living standards of our residents, and collectively, we will advocate for a thorough and sustainable development agenda.

“I encourage you to examine the informative brochure that details the strategic methods we plan to implement to tackle the immediate needs of our community.

“Together, we will build on the outstanding initiatives launched during the tenure of Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala, paving the way for a future filled with potential.

“I seek your support, your confidence, and your vote as we journey toward a brighter future,” he further stated.

He also committed to expanding on the successes of the outgoing administration while concentrating on infrastructure, healthcare improvements, environmental sustainability, agriculture, tourism, and cultural development.

“As we plan for the future, I am inspired by the necessity of maintaining the momentum of our governance.

“Our notable achievements, grounded in our dedication to transparency, accountability, and high-quality service, will create a strong basis for what is to come.

“We must ensure the continuity of our progressive initiatives so that the efforts we’ve initiated continue benefiting all residents,” he added.

The APC candidate reached out to other contestants who competed for the ticket, promising that if he is elected as the next chairman of the LCDA, he would strengthen relationships with them.

“I would also like to recognize the other candidates who demonstrated their passion and commitment throughout this campaign.

“Their involvement enhances our democratic processes, and I am hopeful that, regardless of the results, our collective spirit will propel Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye into a new phase of development.

“As I begin this campaign, I assure you that enhancing our partnerships will be a top priority if I am chosen as your next chairman.

“Your support will be instrumental in driving the positive transformations we envision for our community. I look forward to collaborating with you as we aspire for significant achievements,” he concluded.
