Manchester City's Foden Named FWA Footballer of the Year

Manchester City player Phil Foden has been named the Football Writers’ Association's Footballer of the Year for the 2023/24 season.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, also from Manchester City, won the women’s award.

Foden received 42 percent of the votes, becoming the third Manchester City player in four years to win the men's Footballer of the Year award, following Ruben Dias in 2021 and Erling Haaland in 2023.

The playmaker topped the list ahead of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Manchester City teammate Rodri, who came in second and third, respectively. Martin Odegaard, Ollie Watkins, and Cole Palmer rounded out the top six.

Foden, 23, has scored 16 Premier League goals this season and has provided seven assists.

Additionally, he has netted five goals in the Champions League, with three assists, and scored twice in the FA Cup.
