Boniface attracting interest from leading European clubs

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is currently the most sought-after forward among clubs in the Top 5 European leagues.

Boniface, who made a €20m move to Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the last transfer window, has evolved into one of the most feared strikers in Europe. His impressive performance, including seven goals and five assists in 11 Bundesliga games, earned him the league’s Player of The Month and Rookie of The Month awards for August, September, and October. Additionally, he received nominations for the best player of the month in September.

Mid-September statistics also revealed that the Nigerian holds the record for the most shots in the Bundesliga this season.

The 22-year-old forward has played a crucial role in Die Werkself's remarkable beginning to the 2023/24 season, with the team currently leading the Bundesliga table after 11 matchdays.

Leading up to the international break, which was the third of the ongoing season, Boniface ranked fourth among players in Europe's Top 5 leagues with the most goal contributions. He trailed only Bayern Munich's Harry Kane, Manchester City's Erling Haaland, and VfB Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy, who occupied the first, second, and third positions, respectively.

His remarkable goal contribution statistics are surpassed only by Kane, who has accumulated 28 goal contributions (21 goals and seven assists), Haaland with 21 (17 goals and four assists), and Guirassy, who also boasts an impressive 18 goal contributions (16 goals and two assists).

The Akure-born striker currently ranks as the Bundesliga's sixth top scorer for the 2023/24 season, having scored seven goals in 11 games. He trails behind Kane (17 goals), VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy (15), RB Leipzig’s Loïs Openda (9), VfL Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind, and Leroy Sane, who both have eight goals.

Given his impressive performance, it comes as no surprise that Boniface is regarded by Romano as the most sought-after striker in Europe. The transfer expert mentioned, "Top clubs from different countries are keeping a close eye on Victor Boniface, doing fantastic at Leverkusen. He won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award three times in a row. Top impact." Clubs such as Newcastle, Real Madrid, and Liverpool have reportedly included the young striker on their wish list.
