Tinubu Arrives in Saudi Arabia Following Visit to the Netherlands
President Bola Tinubu arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Friday evening to attend the 2024 Special World Economic Forum (WEF) focused on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development.
This visit represents the second phase of the President's two-country tour, following his previous engagements in The Hague, Netherlands, earlier in the week.
According to Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, the high-profile forum in Riyadh is anticipated to draw over 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia, representing more than 90 countries.
He mentioned that the objective is to build on the success of last year's inaugural Growth Summit in Geneva, Switzerland.
The meeting in Riyadh aims to tackle urgent global issues through three key themes: strengthening global collaboration, promoting inclusive growth, and accelerating progress on energy for development.
The forum provides a venue to address the widening North-South divide, which has been worsened by shifting economic policies, the energy transition, and geopolitical disruptions.
President Tinubu and his delegation plan to use this WEF event to advance discussions that align with his “Renewed Hope Agenda” for Nigeria, as stated by Ajuri Ngelale, the chief spokesperson for the Nigerian president.
