PDP youths advise Tinubu to seek guidance from Obasanjo and Jonathan
Amidst the prevailing challenges in Nigeria, the youth wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) advised President Bola Tinubu on Saturday to seek guidance from former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan on charting a path forward for the country.
Emphasizing the need for a leader capable of steering the nation towards economic recovery, the youth wing asserted that Tinubu has fallen short in this regard. In a statement endorsed by Usman Okai Austin, the National Coordinator of PDP Youths Frontier, it was pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari spent eight years in office attributing blame to Jonathan and the PDP. The statement highlighted that presently, Tinubu and his team are adopting a similar approach, holding the APC government under Buhari accountable.
According to Okai, "We need leaders who can effectively tackle the nation's current challenges and guide us towards economic recovery and security solutions. President Tinubu should seek counsel from seasoned leaders like Jonathan and Obasanjo to propel the country forward."
He underscored the significance of putting aside differences within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to concentrate on the welfare of Nigerians.
Okai asserted that the role of Tinubu in the development of Lagos State is exaggerated, pointing out that it benefitted from its strategic location and its previous status as the Federal Capital Territory before being relocated to Abuja by Ibrahim Babangida.
Furthermore, he criticized the APC for relying on propaganda and highlighted the failure of the president's economic policies to effectively address contemporary challenges confronting the country.
He further stated, "The disarray within the party leadership highlights a lack of comprehension of Nigeria's intricacies. The president's perplexity mirrors the party's pattern of shifting blame to others.
"Nigerians are grappling with economic hardships, leading to increased school dropouts and escalating prices of goods and services, resulting in the depreciation of the Naira.
"In the midst of economic and security crises, the administration appears to be in disarray.
"Tinubu, considered the best within the APC, has fallen short in economic management similarly to Buhari. It is time for him to acknowledge the failures of his administration instead of resorting to the blame game. Nigerians are enduring hardships, and it is evident that the APC is not the preferable choice for the country."
