PDP Deputy Spokesperson Abdullahi Responds to Tribunal Ruling

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has offered his response to the recent ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The tribunal, on Wednesday, dismissed the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar's petition against President Bola Tinubu.

During an interview on Arise TV on Friday, Abdullahi expressed his belief that it would have been more meaningful if the tribunal judges had invalidated the 2023 presidential election and called for a new one. He argued that the PDP had presented ample evidence to challenge the election's legitimacy.

Abdullahi stated, "There was a significant amount of evidence provided by the parties to warrant the annulment of the election. If the judges had nullified the election and ordered a fresh one, it would have been a more sensible decision. However, for the respected judges to conclude that there was nothing wrong with the election from start to finish is a shock to us. We are still reeling from the surprise."

Meanwhile, the former Vice President, Atiku, has pledged to take his case to the Supreme Court in an effort to reclaim what he considers his 'stolen' mandate. He made this announcement during a press conference held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. Atiku emphasized that the 'battle' for the 2023 Presidential election is far from over and has instructed his legal team to appeal the tribunal's decision and proceed to the Supreme Court. He asserted that the tribunal's judgment lacked substantial justice but reiterated his continued faith in the judiciary.
