Osita Chidoka Calls for Tinubu's Resignation, Urges Restoration of Honor in Nigeria
Osita Chidoka, the Director of Voter Intelligence and Strategy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council for the 2023 election, has called on President Bola Tinubu to spare the country further embarrassment and step down.
In an interview on Arise TV, Chidoka urged Tinubu to acknowledge the alleged forgery of his certificate. Describing the issue of Tinubu's academic record as an "International Embarrassment," Chidoka expressed concern that Nigeria would become a subject of mockery on the international stage.
Chidoka emphasized that the Supreme Court would be neglecting its duty if it did not take a stance on the validity of Tinubu's academic record, as released by the Chicago State University (CSU).
Highlighting the challenges facing the country, Chidoka argued that Tinubu, with a tainted mandate, cannot effectively discuss solutions, particularly with the Western region.
He stated, "We are going to submit it to the Supreme Court; whether they will accept it or not is a question for them, but I think this is beyond legalism. I don’t think Nigerians should be debating if the Supreme Court will accept the document or not. It is an international embarrassment, and we are going to be the subject of international conversation."
Chidoka pointed out various challenges, including the removal of fuel subsidy, a high exchange rate of the dollar, dwindling oil production, fake dollars in the country's reserve, and issues with deregulating the electricity sector. He emphasized the need for a leader with legitimacy and a clean mandate to address these challenges and mobilize the predominantly young population.
In conclusion, Chidoka urged President Tinubu to resign, stating, "There should be some honor in this country. He should just say he made a mistake and doesn’t know how he got the certificate."
