Why hired youths tried to bomb P’Harcourt hotel

The governor clarified that certain young people were employed to participate in a demonstration in support of previous local government chairmen who have completed their legally mandated three-year term.

Governor Fubara stated that the demonstrators and their backers knew that a few honorable members of the National Assembly were staying at the Hotel Presidential. For this reason, they tried, but were unsuccessful, to set off an explosive device close to the establishment in order to justify the request for a state of emergency when the issue is brought up in plenary.

In actuality, let me tell you, I am aware of everything that is going on," he remarked. They (protesters) knew you were in the state yesterday, Tuesday. Thus, an attempt was made to cause a significant issue.

"In fact, because you folks were at the Hotel Presidential, there was a plan to blow up dynamite there. However, the God we worship occurred to blow off the hands of the man who was trying to detonate it a few seconds after he did.

The plan was that while you were hearing about the state of emergency, someone from this state would have contacted you to tell you not to come, and by the time they finished and you returned for your meeting on Thursday, it would be too late.

"At this point, he will bring up the subject of the state of emergency and claim that you witnessed what transpired while in Rivers State, together with your esteemed colleagues.

You see, even your own child who is plotting evil will go and tell someone that God is with this man because he is clean, and this is what my father is preparing, when you are with God. We remain in this state because of that.

Nowhere in the nation has tenure elongation for former local government chairmen been a problem, so the governor of Rivers State questioned why it seems that the law is silent or inactive to take its course over offenders because someone seems to be bigger than the law on the agitation.

The State Chief Executive made the observation that no governor in Nigeria is able to withstand even 10% of the insults directed at him by past chairmen of local government councils.

"Where in the world is it possible to extend the term of local government chairmen?" he asked. Was it tried when you were the governor before? Has anyone tried this previously, even the senators present from your own states?

Is it because Rivers State's Constitution is different from the one that controls Nigeria? These are the important questions that need to be asked.

Why is there always silence from the law regarding the Rivers State case? Is there someone who is more powerful than Nigeria? I want you to return with that query.

"I tell you, we know everything that is happening, and you know it, everybody knows it," Governor Fubara emphasized. It is our duty to have the courage to tell folks the truth while observing their faces.

"I have no adversaries. People will be able to tell if I'm arguing because my behavior will alter. We are acting to protect ourselves. Not only can we not fold our hands. There will be nothing except a standing tree, and someone will come and chop it off.

It doesn't occur in human beings. You change if you sense impending danger. Our actions are solely directed toward self-defense. Thus, Honorable Senators, I am not engaged in combat with anyone.

"Someone thinks or some people feel they own life," Fubara remarked. Life is not mine to possess. God is the owner of all life. God has given us this chance, thus we are here to serve the people of Rivers State.

"It makes no difference where the opportunity originated. However, God is the most significant factor, and nothing can replace God.

As the committee recommends the privatization and commercialization of public firms, the governor instructed the members to consider the interests of Rivers State.

I'll also make the plea that the Rivers State Government will be interested in anything related to our own State that has to be privatized throughout this privatization process.

"Because even though we have the means to purchase shares or a section of our land, you cannot come here and claim ownership of it.

As a committee, please let us know if there is anywhere you can help us; if someone is still accessible, please let us know and provide the information so that we can take ownership of it.

"We cannot safeguard those assets until we are the owners. The assets don't become feasible for the State or the Federal Republic of Nigeria until we own them, the speaker said.

Senator Kalu, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, stated in his speech that the purpose of their visit to the state was to oversee certain projects that fell under their jurisdiction.

The senator from the Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Kalu, praised Fubara for his commitment to quality administration, love of peace, and pace in creating an environment that fosters economic progress for all State citizens.

As part of his commitment to promoting peace and prioritizing the interests of the State over all other factors, the Senate committee chairman also encouraged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to throw down his sword and summon his supporters to order.

Although I want to commend Your Excellency, your Deputy, and your team for the outstanding work they are doing in the State, I also think that peace is a good thing.

"I would like to express my gratitude as you appear to be a very content man. You have a calm man's face. Your laugh reveals a calm man. Thus, I would like you to carry on in that peaceful manner. Nothing compares to tranquility. Let those who are eating from it with this issue to quit.

"We are aware of the shape politics has taken. We are grateful that you are serving the citizens of your state. I'll keep asking you to concentrate on the task at hand.

"Being a leader carries a heavy load. This isn't a potato with sugar. It is not in a place where rice and beans are visible. Everyone on Rivers Street claims that there is a fight going on between the governor and the former governor.

We beg you to keep restraining your people because, should they protest in the same way as everyone else, anarchy will break out, and anarchy is never a good thing.

"I want to beg you to follow the laws of this place. I beg you to follow the provisions of the Constitution. I implore you to follow the Judiciary's rulings as well. He said, "Await each judicial interpretation before acting upon it.

In addition to stating that leaders must focus their efforts on addressing the country's hardships in order to promote growth and prosperity for all Nigerians, he promised that the committee is prepared to collaborate with the State Government to achieve goals that will benefit all Nigerians.
