Two Lives Lost in Recent Clash Between Rival Cult Factions in Osun
The Nigeria Police Force, Osun State Command, has officially confirmed the tragic killing of two individuals in a recent clash between two suspected cult groups.
The incident occurred in Ilesa town, where members of the rival gang engaged in a violent confrontation on a Sunday evening, resulting in the immediate shooting deaths of two individuals.
According to the police report, the rival gang members stormed a beer parlor located at Onimo junction, where the victims, identified as Machine and SK, were having a drink and subsequently fatally shot them.
Corroborating the police's account, the local traditional ruler, Onimo of Imo, Oba Olaniyi Agunbiade, disclosed that he was watching a football match around 8 p.m. when the sound of gunshots startled him. Without delay, he alerted the Ijamo Police Divisional Officer, who promptly responded to the distress call.
The deed has been done before the arrival of his men.
“Corpses of the victims were removed by the police for investigation,” Daily Post quoted the traditional ruler saying.
Spokesman of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident in a conversation with journalists, saying it was a clash between two suspected rival cult groups.
“It was a case of a suspected cult gang gunning down two members of another suspected rival cult group,” she said, noting that an investigation has commenced on the event and the culprits would be brought to book.
