Twitter to pay verified users for profile views – Musk
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has announced that as part of an expansion of the microblogging service's monetisation initiative, users would soon be compensated for adverts that appear when other users read their accounts. However, Musk argues that this offer is only available to confirmed users. The Twitter CEO stated that the new monetisation program would improve the reward for content providers on Twitter who are already compensated for content impressions.
Musk stated that a lot of Twitter accounts may earn thousands of dollars if they become verified, in what appears to be an attempt to entice more users to pay for the blue tick.
Musk noted in his tweet: "You'll soon be paid for advertising that appear when people read your profile page, roughly doubling earnings.
"Many accounts on this platform can earn thousands of dollars per month in advertising revenue sharing if they become verified subscribers!"
Last week, Twitter launched its much-anticipated initiative for sharing advertising revenue with content creators. As a result, several American creators received thousands of dollars for the number of impressions they generated.
The site now pays artists a part of the advertising revenue it generates by presenting adverts in response to their posts.
Users who have received more than 5 million tweet impressions per month for the previous three months and are Twitter Blue subscribers are eligible to enlist.
Musk claimed that the initial batch of creator rewards would be cumulative beginning in February and totalling $5 million. Stripe is used to handle payouts.
As global interest has grown, Twitter has announced that the monetisation scheme will now be open to all content creators.
"Creators from all around the world have expressed a strong interest in the new advertising revenue sharing program. All eligible creators can start receiving advertising revenue as soon as their work is published; all you have to do is set up payouts.
He noted that, in addition to creator subscriptions, the monetisation solution will include an additional program known as ad income sharing.
According to Twitter, the content producer must be a verified business or a Twitter Blue subscription to be eligible for the payout.
"Such a creator must also pass a human inspection for Creator Monetisation Standards and have "at least 5 million impressions on their posts in each of the last three months."
Since Twitter now uses Stripe for payouts and is rolling out to its initial group of artists who have previously signed up for creator subscriptions, it has been stated that creators will also need a Stripe account.
