Tragic Incident in Ilorin: 30-Year-Old Man Fatally Attacked by Dog
A Killer "German Dog" Leaves Family Devastated: Tragic Death of Breadwinner, Engr Mohammed Faworaja, in Ilorin
The young engineer had assumed responsibility for managing the family business after his father's recent retirement and the subsequent handover to him.
Last weekend, Engr Faworaja was running an errand in the Asa Dam Warah/Osin area of Kwara State capital when he was relentlessly pursued by the ferocious dog. While desperately trying to escape, he accidentally collided with an electric pole, causing him to fall heavily. The food items he had gone to purchase from the supermarket scattered on the ground.
Witnesses of the tragic incident, acting as good Samaritans, immediately intervened by driving the attacking dog away and rushing him to a nearby private hospital. Unfortunately, a reliable source in the area reported that he succumbed to internal bleeding and was pronounced dead shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
A blogger with the handle @donimama4all, identified as Hashim Ibrahim Bolaji, initially tweeted about the incident, but the post was later deleted within minutes.
According to another anonymous source, the tragic event involved a German shepherd dog that got loose and chased the deceased. During the pursuit, the man accidentally collided with an electric pole, resulting in fatal internal bleeding. Interestingly, the sardine he had gone to buy was found beside the pole.
Describing the deceased as a friendly man, believed to be around 33 years old, he had been the sole breadwinner of his family. The police have been notified and are involved in the matter.
"The way the father spoke during one of the prayers organized for him, after retiring and passing everything on to his son, was truly heart-wrenching. The entire family is going through immense devastation," the source further explained.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi (SP), confirmed the incident. He stated, "The owner of the dog has been arrested, and the matter is currently under investigation," as mentioned by the police spokesperson.
