Tinubu to attend South Africa’s Ramaphosa’s inauguration
President Bola Tinubu will travel Lagos on Tuesday for Pretoria, South Africa, to attend President Cyril Ramaphosa's inauguration.Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, revealed the information in a statement on Monday.
Ngelale stated that Ramaphosa's inauguration comes after he was re-elected President for a second term.
He noted that Tinubu will return to Nigeria following the event.
According to Nigerianwatch, Ramaphosa was re-elected to a second term after his humbled ANC formed a historic coalition government.
After no clear winner emerged in the May 29 general election, Cape Town lawmakers unanimously agreed to re-elect Ramaphosa for another five years.
The election constituted a watershed moment in South African history, bringing an end to the late Nelson Mandela's African National Congress' three-decade reign.
The party that led the anti-apartheid campaign received only 40% of the vote and, for the first time, lost an absolute majority in parliament.
It did, however, reach an agreement to form what it calls a government of national unity.
