Tinubu meets FBI boss, seeks stronger collaboration to fight cybercrime, terrorism

President Bola Tinubu has asked for greater cooperation between Nigeria's law enforcement agencies and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the battle against cybercrime, terrorism, and other crimes.

The President made this statement on Friday during a meeting with FBI Director Christopher Wray at the State House in Abuja.

President Tinubu welcomed the FBI Director's participation in Nigeria alongside his team as appreciation of Nigeria and the United States' long-standing partnership in combating financial crimes and terrorism.

"It is an honour for me to welcome Director Christopher Wray, the leader of an organisation that has exhibited sustained procedural sophistication and a reputation for excellence throughout the years.

Your visit highlights the significance of Nigeria and Nigerian partnership in the work of American law enforcement institutions, as well as vice versa. For us, it is an acknowledgment of where we are, who we are, and the level of interest both countries have in eradicating crime locally and globally," the president stated.

The meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd); and the Chief of Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Major-General Emmanuel Undiandeye.

Others include Olanipekun Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Major-General Adamu Laka, National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
