Tinubu condemns Borno suicide attacks, promises to deal with troublemakers
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the bomb attacks in Borno State's Gwoza Local Government Area, which claimed lives and injured others.According to Nigerianwatch, a horrific bomb assault occurred on Saturday at a wedding celebration in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State, killing at least 18 people and injuring many more.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, told Nigerianwatch that the bomber, later identified as a young woman in her early twenties, detonated her explosive device in the midst of the crowd, causing confusion and destruction.
According to intelligence sources, the casualties were all civilians returning from a wedding party when the attack took place near a large motorpark.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene to rescue the injured and bring them to Gwoza's hospitals.
Saturday's bomb strike is the first in years since Boko Haram began bombing raids across the country in 2009. Notable raids included the bombings of the United Nations building in 2010 and the bustling Nyanya auto park in Abuja in 2014.
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President condemned the attacks as desperate acts of violence and a clear manifestation of the pressure applied to terrorists and the achievements achieved in reducing their ability to conduct offensives.
The President declared that the perpetrators of violence will be prosecuted, and that the heinous acts were merely an isolated incident, as his administration would not allow the country to descend into an era of dread, tears, sadness, and blood.
The statement said, "The President indicated that his administration is taking essential measures to secure citizens, emphasising that efforts will be redoubled to ensure that those who disturb the nation, endanger valuable lives, and disrupt law and order are entirely removed.
"President Tinubu condoles with the victims of the attacks, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State."
