Suspect harming seven women for a money ritual through a hookup app
Adebayo Olamide Azeez, a suspected ritual killer, disclosed on Thursday how he used the dating app "mychat" to entice seven women to their tragic demise for ritualistic purposes.
The 32-year-old Azeez admitted to being part of a ritualist gang specializing in the murder of women and the sale of their body parts for money rituals.
The Ogun State Police Command apprehended and publicly presented members of the gang, including Moses Abidemi Awuraji, Oluwo Samuel Monday, Peter Oluwalolese, Jamiu Yusuf, Akinwunmi Ifatosin, Sherifff Agbai, and Osojieahen Alioneitouria. Their arrest stemmed from the alleged killing of a 35-year-old woman, Sulaimon Adijat, for money ritual.
Azeez, previously evading authorities but later apprehended, admitted to joining the gang in September of the previous year and confessed to participating in the murders of seven women.
This revelation occurred during the parade of suspected criminals by the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu.
Alamutu disclosed that Azeez collaborated with Moses Abidemi Awuraji, a herbalist, in the heinous act of killing the victims for money rituals.
"The suspects strangled their victims to death, dismembered their body parts, and sold them to Oluwo Monday Samuel and Alfa Ariwo (still at large) for ritual purposes," Alamutu stated. "The three suspects confessed to the killing of ten different ladies at the Igbo Olomi residence of Moses Abidemi."
Detailing how he enticed and carried out the killings, Azeez explained, "I sourced the victims from MyChat, a hookup app. When Moses Abidemi Awuraji informed me of the need for human body parts, I would contact the ladies on the app, expressing a desire to meet them.
"I had no prior acquaintance with these ladies; our interactions were solely on the app. I would inquire about their availability and negotiate the amount they were willing to accept. Once we reached an agreement, I'd share my address, and they would come to Atan-Ota.
"After picking them up, I would notify Moses Abidemi Awuraji of their presence, and together, we would transport them to his residence in Igbo Olomi, Atan-Ota. Subsequently, within his living room, we executed the heinous act."
Awuraji Mariam, Abidemi's wife, would restrain the victims by holding down their legs while I carried out the strangulation.
"I joined the gang in September 2023, and within this period, we have been involved in the killing of seven women. These are the women I brought to the house where the acts occurred.
"My role is to find and bring in the women. I am unaware of the purpose behind using the corpses, as I am not informed about it. My task is solely to locate and bring in the women, and they do not always disclose the amount they will pay me. Sometimes it's N30,000, and other times it's N40,000.
"I cannot refuse whenever they request me to bring in the women. I do not inquire about the buyers of the body parts, and my concern is simply to find the women and receive my payment."
In the meantime, Alamutu stated that the Command is diligently working to identify other victims. He urged the public to report to the police with photographs of missing relatives.
