Six Killed in Confrontation Between Troops and Bandits in Kaduna
In a recent operation in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigerian Army troops neutralized at least six suspected bandits. The 1 Division Nigerian Army disclosed the details of the operation in a statement issued on Thursday by Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya.
The operation, conducted on November 16 by 1 Division troops and Operation Whirl Punch, was based on reliable intelligence. The offensive clearance operation covered several areas within Birnin Gwari LGA, including Sabon-Birni, Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Maidaro-Ngede Allah, and Kidenda.
During the operation, six bandits were neutralized, and a variety of weapons and items were recovered, including two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 40 pairs of bandit uniforms, and nine motorcycles.
Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding of 1 Division and the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, commended the soldiers for their bravery. He urged them to persist in their efforts until all terrorists, bandits, and other criminals within the division's jurisdiction were eliminated.
