Serial killer-passengers stab two Lagos e-hailing drivers dead
Two members of a ring that specialized in killing e-hailing drivers and profited from the sale of the vehicles seized from their victims have been apprehended by police in Lagos.Roqib Moshood and an alleged accomplice, Olawale Kolawole, were among those arrested.
Our correspondent learned that efforts were on to apprehend other fleeing gang members, including Yusuf Adeyemi, who, together with Moshood, allegedly murdered an e-hailing driver, Oluwaseun Adeniran, dumped his body by the roadside, and seized his vehicle.
According to a source who talked to NigerianWatch on the condition of anonymity, the suspects and their gang members usually utilize innocent victims to commence their illegal deeds in order to commit the crime and clear their names.
This was the case on April 12, when 22-year-old Moshood asked his neighbor's son, Taofiq Sanni, to help him request the services of 43-year-old Adeniran, who, after accepting Sanni's request, drove Moshood and Adeyemi from the Ojodu area to a location near the Fagbem Filling Station, near the Long Bridge end of the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
Moshood told our correspondent on Wednesday that as Adeniran was driving them to the destination, they told him to detour through the Fagbem Filling Station area to connect the barren road near the Long Bridge under the premise of picking up a buddy.
He stated, "The event occurred at 9 p.m., and we advised the vehicle to pass through Fagbem to link the road beside the Long Bridge. We know the area is usually abandoned and how we convinced him was that we were going there to pick up a friend.

"But when we arrived, I was sitting behind the driver when I suddenly pulled out a rope and tied it around his neck. As he wrestled with me to free himself, Adeyemi, who was sitting beside him, pulled out a knife, stabbed him in the chest, and hit his head with a heavy object.
"After the driver died, we pushed him out of the truck, and I took over the wheel and drove away. Adeyemi got off and went home to change his clothes because they were stained with the driver's blood, while I drove down to the Afrikan Shrine to meet up with some of our friends.
He went on to explain that he and his gang members had killed two e-hailing drivers using the same tactics, adding that the third victim escaped death by a whisker.

The 22-year-old admitted, "We killed two drivers by claiming to be passengers. The incident that led to my detention occurred on the road alongside the Long Bridge. The automobile we confiscated from the victim was sold to a buyer for more than N1 million.
"It's a Toyota Camry; I was able to sell it because, as a vehicle painter, I have a guy named Kolawole who also paints cars. Kolawole had no idea how I got the automobile. I instructed him to pretend as the vehicle's owner in order to persuade the customer to acquire the vehicle. I initially instructed the buyer to pay N3 million, but after the negotiation, he paid N1 million or so. The cops arrested me in Ikire, Osun State."

Speaking with Kolawole, he stated that the police detained him because he posed as the owner of the vehicle that Moshood stole after killing Adeniran, and that he was also instrumental in Moshood's arrest.
He explained that he was arrested because he purported to be the owner of the vehicle. Even after the car was sold, the buyer continued to threaten me because he had difficulties with it. He acquired my phone number when he contacted to see if I owned the automobile Moshood offered to sell him.

"But when the threat became too great, I phoned Moshood to beg the owner of the vehicle to intervene, and he stated he couldn't reach the owner of the car.
"All of a sudden, I heard Moshood had fled the area and when I informed people about what happened and how I was being threatened by the person who bought the car from Moshood, it was at that point that I was told Moshood killed someone and sold the vehicle."
PUNCH According to Metro, after Adeniran's family members were unable to locate him, they reported him missing to the Alausa Division of the state police command.
