The daughter of Hon Bukar Abacha, the representative of Ngala Constituency in the Borno State House of Assembly, has reportedly been murdered. According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert in the Lake Chad region, the lady was strangled to death in the Gidan Dembe community in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

The victim's husband, who discovered her lifeless body with her hands and legs tied behind her back and her two-year-old child crying, took the corpse to the police station. The Gwange Police Division has transferred the body to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for autopsy and investigation.

The incident caused tension and chaos in the area, attracting a large crowd of residents who gathered at the scene. Kamilu Sani, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating, "We actually received a report on the killing, but whether it was gunmen that committed the culpable homicide or not is yet to be ascertained, please."

In a separate incident, a clash occurred between officers of the Nigeria Police Force and the South-West Security Outfit, Amotekun corps, during the Ogun State Sports Writer Association of Nigeria football competition in Abeokuta. The conflict arose when the referee issued red cards to players from both teams for misconduct. The tense situation escalated when an Amotekun player invaded the pitch, attacking a police player and causing injuries.
