Police fatally shoot two loyalists of a cult leader in Rivers
The Rivers State Nigeria Police reported that its personnel eliminated two suspected cultists who had invaded and killed five residents of Odiemerenyi community in Ahoada East Local Government Area on Sunday morning.
The police clarified that the cultists were members of the gang led by the wanted kingpin, David Gift, also known as 2-Baba. This gang had previously captured and killed the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada, SP Bako Angbanshin, in September.
Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, revealed this information in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday and shared with the press. She explained that the action was taken based on credible intelligence indicating that the miscreants were actively searching for police informants. Police operatives swiftly intervened to address the situation.
Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko reiterated the commitment of the command to apprehend the wanted leader of the Iceland cult gang, 2-Baba, and other suspected cultists who are on the run, ensuring they face justice.
The statement conveyed, "Ahoada Police Station operatives responded to a distress call at approximately 01:00 hours on Sunday morning, November 12, 2023.
