Ogun State Customs Vows to Combat Smuggling Through Sports

Customs Area Controller for Ogun 1 Command, Comptroller James Ojo, has emphasized the use of sports to combat smuggling and deter illicit activities in border communities.

Speaking at the Ogun State chapter in his Idiroko office, Comptroller Ojo highlighted the importance of engaging youth in sports to prevent them from becoming involved in smuggling activities.

He emphasized the significance of sports in crime prevention and committed to ensuring that every border-friendly community benefits from the Comptroller-General of Customs’ Social Responsibility initiatives.

Drawing inspiration from the establishment of a football team by former Comptroller General Jibo MB at the Seme border, Comptroller Ojo pledged to enhance the performance of existing football teams in Ogun, including the customs football team, to actively engage the youth in positive activities.

Additionally, Comptroller Ojo affirmed the command's support for the forthcoming 4th edition of SWAN/SECURITY CUP in August, promising to contribute to the success of the sports event.
