Nurses and midwives association in Kwara state has decided to suspend their planned strike

The Kwara Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives has decided to suspend its 21-day strike ultimatum, which was issued to the state government to address the poor conditions of service for its members.

In a letter addressed to the state Governor, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Chairman, Aminu Shehu, and Secretary, Markus Lukas, stated that the decision to suspend the strike came after the governor expressly approved the council's demands.

The demands put forward by the association included the recruitment of additional nurses into the health sector, an upward review of CONHESS from 70% to 100%, implementation of hazard allowance ranging from N32,000 to N34,000, and the implementation of a uniform allowance.

The letter conveyed, "Due to the gracious approval of our demands by His Excellency, we, the leadership of the association, have decided to suspend the 21-day ultimatum that was issued."

"During this time, as we await the necessary financial support within this month, we kindly request our members to remain composed and dedicated to their noble service to humanity," the council added.

The association also offered prayers, asking for divine guidance and wisdom for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as he leads the state.
