NSITF partners NIMC to integrate workers’ data

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund has joined forces with the National Identity Management Commission to combine the data of enrollees in the Employees’ Compensation Scheme with the national identity database.

This alliance aims to enhance the efficiency, security, and transparency of the claim processing for employees under the scheme.

Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, the Managing Director of NSITF, made this announcement on Wednesday during a visit to NIMC Director-General, Mrs. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in Abuja.

He emphasized the significance of merging employees’ bio-data with their NIN to facilitate straightforward validation and verification of registered workers.

Faleye remarked that this collaboration would significantly bolster NSITF’s operations by improving its database system and strengthening the social security framework in the country.

He stressed that the partnership would increase NSITF’s efficiency by granting rapid access to precise employee data for verification.

“The collaboration will enhance NSITF’s efficiency and improve its database management processes, thereby expanding social security,” he stated.

He also pointed out that the extensive research and data collection conducted by NIMC across Nigeria would offer valuable demographic insights, enabling NSITF to optimize its Employees’ Compensation Scheme.

Faleye highlighted the necessity of connecting employee records with the NIN system, likening it to other essential identification requirements.

He mentioned that just as one must verify their NIN to obtain a Nigerian passport, a similar protocol should be enforced to ensure smooth and accurate management of employee records.

“Currently in Nigeria, obtaining a passport requires NIN verification. Thus, we must implement the same procedure to ensure we have adequate and accurate data on all employees under the scheme,” he explained.

Faleye stressed the wider implications of this collaboration, indicating that it would allow NSITF to identify eligible individuals not only for ECS benefits but also for upcoming social security initiatives.

“We believe that collaborating with your organization will enhance our capacity to deliver services more efficiently, particularly in accessing the national database,” he remarked.

In reply, NIMC Director-General, Mrs. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, assured her agency’s complete support for the partnership.

She acknowledged the significance of the initiative and promised to provide the necessary technical assistance for a seamless integration.

“We will certainly connect your IT team with our own IT group so they can work together and establish a functioning team immediately. We can outline the framework concerning this integration,” she articulated.

Odusote also vowed to enforce a detailed timeline to achieve full integration within a week. She expressed confidence that this collaboration would represent a notable achievement for both organizations.

Through this strategic partnership, NSITF and NIMC plan to modernize Nigeria’s employee compensation system by improving data management, verification processes, and financial security for workers nationwide.
